If you are a beginner at skateboarding, you probably don’t know when is the proper time to go to the skatepark. You will get different experiences depending on what time of day you go to the skatepark. The best time to go to the skatepark depends on your personal preference, goal, and priorities.

Some skateboarders, especially beginners, love to go to the skatepark during a time where no or fewer skateboarders are skating in the park. Why? Because most beginners are shy or anxious, which is normal during the beginning. So, when should you go to the skatepark? When is the best time? Here, let me tell you.

When should I go to the skatepark?
The best time to go to the skatepark is during the morning, between 7 am to 10 am. If you desire to skate in an uncrowded park and wide space to practice, morning is the right time for you. The weather during the morning is cooler and you will not be pressured by other experienced skaters since the park is usually empty during the morning.

However, if you decide to go to the skatepark with your friends, the afternoon is the best time to go, which is 3 pm to 6 pm. Also, if you like to meet new people or skateboarders, this is the best time of the day. However, usually, the weather will be hotter. That is why I suggest you wear sandos or shirts that will not make you feel hot.

However, it still depends on your preference. If you will go alone to the skatepark and want plenty of room to practice, morning is the best time for you. But if you will go with your friends and love to meet new skateboarders, the afternoon is the best time. So, it really depends on your goal and preferences.

When Is The Best Time To Go To The Skatepark?

For Practicing And Good Weather

Like I have mentioned above, the best time to go to the skatepark is during the morning, between 7 am – 11 am. The reason why is because the weather during this time is usually cooler and the park will be less crowded. If you desire to practice in a less crowded park, morning is the best because kids and adults are usually at school or at work.

Morning is the best time to execute the skateboarding tricks you are uncomfortable doing in front of lots of people. There is a big difference in learning to do an ollie surrounded by lots of skateboarders watching you compared to learning to do an ollie with no skateboarders around you that pressures you to execute the ollie fast because they need to use the skatepark.

When I am practicing my cycling tricks or basketball moves, I usually love to practice during the time where there are no people on the court. Also, my friends who skate said that it is better to practice without lots of other skateboarders watching you because they can focus well.

My friends who skate said that they need some wide space and no pressure to really learn to execute some of the scarier tricks. That is why they usually go to the skatepark in the morning. My friends will have a hard time learning to execute the ollie properly if there was a line of impatient skateboarders waiting behind them to use the bowl.

So if you want to skate with no lots of skateboarders around and to learn to execute hard skateboarding tricks fast, you should constantly go to the skatepark every morning. During the morning, it is very comfortable to skate!

To Meet New Friends Or Bond With Your Friends

If you desire to widen your social network, then the best time to go to the skatepark is during the afternoon, where the skatepark is crowded.

Most skateparks around the world are usually busiest from 2 pm-8 pm. The reason why is because this time is usually the dismissal of kids from school and adults might have just gotten off of work, and usually most skateboarders don’t wake up early. You will want to go to the skatepark around this time if you want to meet new friends.

However, the problem with going during this time is that the weather will be generally hotter and it will be very hard to find your own space at the skatepark. But if you already know the general skatepark etiquette, you can still have plenty of space to practice. Also, you can meet new friends that will teach and give you some tips or advice on your tricks.

Usually, skateboarders are friendly at the skatepark and they would love to help you out. Skateboarders will help you to properly execute a certain skateboard trick you want to learn and will help you get up if you fall.

My friends who love skateboarding have many friends because of skateboarding. They rarely met an arrogant skateboarder. However, since my friends want to learn a certain trick fast, they usually go during the mornings. But if my friends want to hang out with their fellow skateboarders, they go to the skatepark during the afternoon.

Kids and adults in the skatepark are both sweet and kind. However, kids might be very frustrating to be with because they have a lack of awareness. For lots of skateboarders, skateboarding is their way to widen their social network.

Each skateboarder on the skatepark has different jobs and other skills that might help you in the future, not just skateboarding. So never be afraid to interact with other skateboarders. Be friendly and always put a smile on your face when someone approaches you!

Should I Go To The Skatepark Even If I am A Beginner?

If you are a beginner in skateboarding, you probably feel anxious to go to the skatepark. Yes! This is absolutely normal! Going to a skatepark as a beginner is always intimidating and makes beginners anxious or scared. Most beginner skateboarders I know will first practice the basics of skateboarding and some basic skateboarding tricks before heading to the skatepark.

However, beginners can still go to the skatepark and I highly recommend that they should go to the skatepark. Skateparks are designed to have obstacles specifically for skateboarding, which can quickly improve your skateboarding skills. Also, there are lots of experienced skateboarders in the skatepark that will help you out.

You will usually not be judged for being a beginner and you will most likely meet new people that are very polite and humble. The only thing that holds you back from going to the skatepark is yourself!

However, most of my skateboarder friends also felt anxious during the time they were a beginner in skateboarding. They also practice the basics of skateboarding and some basic tricks before going to the skatepark.

These anxious thoughts are silly! Like I have said, it is only you who stop yourself from going to the skatepark. My skateboarder friends still managed to meet new friends even though they are anxious at first. These experienced skateboarders are usually polite and friendly. They will help you to improve and tell you that you are doing wrong.

Never be afraid to be corrected by others. Sometimes our ego is the one that causes us to be anxious. We are afraid and embarrassed when others correct us for our wrongdoings. How can you learn if you can’t handle these things? Be humble and egoless! Let other skateboarders tell you what is wrong. In this way, you will learn hard skateboard tricks fast!

Final Verdict

Going to the skatepark may be scary, especially if you are still a beginner. However, you should not be scared or anxious. But if you are not anxious but just want enough space to practice, morning is the best time to go to the skatepark.

The best time to go to the skatepark depends on your goal and preference. If you want to learn skateboarding without any pressure and plenty of space, morning is the best. But if you want to meet new friends or spend time with your friends, the afternoon is the best time to go to the skatepark.
